Graveyard Shift Ghost Tours at the Mark Twain House — to October 27 in Hartford, CT
Filled with haunted history, dark tales, and Victorian spiritualism, these night tours are fun, scary and even a little educational. Guests will hear lots of creepy tales — and learn about Mark Twain’s interest in the supernatural. Tour is not suitable for children under age 10. The Sleepy Hollow Experience at Old Sturbridge Village — Through November 4 in Sturbridge, MA
At The Sleepy Hollow Experience, guests will be guided through Old Sturbridge Village, where they will encounter Ichabod Crane, Katrina Van Tassel, Brom Bones and the Headless Horseman. Each outdoor performance is one and a half hours long, and requires standing and walking. Performances are held rain or shine. Before show time, guests can enjoy hot soups and chowder, snacks and sweets for $8 to $10. Beer, wine, and cocktails will be available before the show and during intermission. Fright at the Fort features stories from Stephen King in a Civil War era fort on the Penobscot River. Experience the most terrifying frights and scariest sights from the mind of the master himself. Spooky Silents: Silent Film Halloween With The Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra— October 28 in Stowe, VT
Travel back to the early 1900s to watch three ghostly silent films paired with the original historic orchestral scores– Buster Keaton in “The Haunted House” (1921), Laurel and Hardy in “Habeus Corpus” (1928), and Charlie Chaplin in “One A.M.” (1916). Ghosts on the Banke at Strawbery Banke Museum — October 26- 27 in Portsmouth, NH
Come and meet the ghosts of Strawbery Banke: sea captains, 17th-century shopkeepers and wayward pirates haunt the streets of Portsmouth’s oldest neighborhood. Still, you can trick or treat safely from one historic house to the next. Jack-O-Lanterns light the way. Characters present spooky plays, skits, and interactive improvisation throughout the evening. Halls of Darkness 2018 at Hammond Castle — October 12-27 in Gloucester, MA
Visitors must park at Stage Fort Park, and ride the free shuttle bus to the castle. Mr. Hammond’s surrounding himself with objects from antiquity, and felt a connection with the original owners or artisans. Guests invited to the castle in October were never quite sure what Hammond had in store for them, especially after the sun set.Dates: October 12-13, 19-20, and 26-27, 2018
