Give a little; get a little; support local businesses a LOT at the Portland City Gift Swap.
Several Portland organizations have dreamed up a variation of the Yankee Swap Meet with the idea of pushing dollars into local businesses this Christmas holiday season.
Participants must sign up by December 16. They will be randomly assigned to a person for whom they will buy a gift (at a local business). they must drop off the gift by mid-January at a designated drop off spot. Meanwhile, thye will receive a gift from another participant. Everyone buying a gift will get a bit of information about the recipient and his or her favorite stores and gift preferences. Gift swap organizers suggest spending about $25.
Cool, huh?
