We recently looked at our food events calendar for Rhode Island, and we were a bit stunned to see the variety of things happening all over the state, from farm dinners and brew fests to lots of classes and workshops. See some highlights below. (Not necessarily listed in chronological order.)
This festival celebrates Newport’s 300-year brewing history with guest brewers from as far away as California. Try the craft brews and talk with the makers. Local bands and restaurants will provide music and food. Friday evening is a VIB session at the Newport Storm Brewery. The festival moves to the Lawn of the Great Friends Meeting House on Saturday. Eat Drink RI Festival 2018 in Providence on April 25 to 28
Sommelier Smackdown! April 25, at the Café at East Entertaining, 166 Valley Street, Providence will pit the state’s best sommeliers against each other in a blind wine tasting, followed by a wine and food pairing competition.
Dinner by Dames, on April 26 is a multi-course dinner at Skyline at Waterplace, 1 Finance Way. This female-driven dining experience brings together five of Rhode Island’s most talented chefs.
Truck Stop to benefit the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, 200 Niantic Avenue, returns April 27 to the Food Bank’s huge lot in Providence with over 20 trucks. This annual event features restaurants and local musicians.
Grand Tasting on April 28 at the Rhode Island Convention Center, 1 Sabin Street, features samplings of beer, wine & spirits from local food artisans. There will be six culinary & beverage presentations by chefs and bartenders paired with a local producer to serve some of the best food in the country.
Celebrate public television while enjoying good food and fine wine. Small bites will be prepared by chefs from 16 of Rhode Island's best restaurants, caterers, and confectioners. Taste imported and domestic vintages. Amy Traverso, food editor at Yankee magazine, will be the featured guest. Silent and live auctions offer boutique wines, gift packages, travel experiences.
