Quechee, smack in the center of lovely Vermont, is the happening place this weekend for families and people who love nature. The fabulous VINS Nature Center on Route 4 hosts two events. On Saturday, explore the woods for materials to built fairy houses (milkweed pods for bathtubs and beds; acorn caps for a soup bowl or jaunty hat). On Sunday, the Caterpillar Lab brings out an expert in this cunning creatures.

640-second-quechee-gorge-for-blog.jpgQuechee Gorge, passing under Route 4, is sometime called the Grand Canyon of the East. Great views from the bring and you also can walk along the gorge on safe paths. Shoppers! Quechee Gorge Village is a browse- able joy, offering fine jewelry and gifts; hand forged fireplace sets, candle holders, sconces, and clocks; home d├ęcor items; alpaca clothing and gifts; antiques; fudge and old time candy; Vermont Gold Vodka; and toys. You can rent Segways and eat lunch at two comfy family-style taverns.

Are you sated with man-made pleasures? Get into nature again at the nearby Quechee State Park.                                                                                                                                           Map
