Memorial Day Parade 2018 in Old Orchard Beach, Maine

Monday May 28

The annual Memorial Day Parade is packed with the dazzle of summertime patriotism. Floats, clowns, music … the works! 1-2 p.m. 
 

 Rhode Island

 

 GASPEEGaspee Days Arts & Crafts Festival

in Warwick, RI

Saturday through Monday, May 26-28

This is part of annual Gaspee Days, remembering Rhode IUsland Colonists who torched the British tax vessel Gaspee in 1772. This fest is a day of shopping, eating, music, and friends in a historic old neighborhood on a pretty bay. Pawtuxet Park is filled with live music and children’s amusements and games available in the park as well. Live music: Saturday, Rob Davis Band; Sunday, Zink Alloy & Mother Bogart.

SHEEP AND COLLIES

Sheep Shearing & Herding with Border Collies at Billings Farm

in Woodstock, VT

Saturday and Sunday, May 26 and 27

See the farm’s ewes shed their heavy winter fleece with the help of our sheep shearer, who will demonstrate hand shearing and powered clippers Watch border collies follow commands and their instincts to herd sheep in the farm fields. Hands-on activities.  10 a.m.-5 p.m.

MUTINOUS QUESTMutinous Expedition: A Quest for Kids at the USS Constitution Museum in Charlestown, MA

Take your place inside the fictional story of Jack Tarr, a sailor aboard Constitution who had to decide whether to join a mutinous crew or stay loyal to the ship’s captain. Explore the galleries to find clues to help inform your decision. Quest kits are available for the adventure. 10a.m.-5 p.m.

WILDQUACKWildquack Duck River Festival 2018

in Jackson, NH

Sunday, May 27

The plunge into the Wildcat River of 3,500 yellow rubber ducks is just part of a day-long festival that includes vendors, a silent auction, train rides, kids games, and a parade. Jon Sarty and the White Mountain Boys starting making music at 10 a.m., followed by FourFeetTwoShoes with Dennis & Davey. Race time is 1:45 p.m.
