Are the Christmas holidays coming at you too fast? Yep, for you and everyone.

Some of the early planning is actually fun and sociable for people who enjoy do-it-yourself (DIY) projects.

Many fun New England places, like historic houses and public libraries, invite you to come for workshops in making everything from wreaths to pie, body care lotions to desserts. A few examples:

Canterbury Shaker Village, in Canterbury, NH. Learn to make a Shaker broom, cordials, chocolate truffles, and herbal body care products.

Highfield Hall in Falmouth, Massachusetts. Holiday desserts.

Bastille Kitchen in Boston and Gore Mansion in Waltham, Massachusetts. Thanksgiving table centerpieces.

Kennebunk Free Library in Kennebunk, Maine. Drop-In Family Holiday Crafts, including greeting cards. Gingerbread house decorating (make and take).

Historic Deerfield in Deerfield, Massachusetts. Wreath-making, hand-crafted small gifts, chocolate mix.

Museum of Russian Icons in Clinton, Massachusetts. Holiday ornaments.
