It summer, we can eat delicious, outdoor, hand-held food without regard to health (it’s unwritten rule of summer). New England food events and festivals this summer includes food truck gatherings, wine and beer festivals, cheese in Vermont, seafood all along the coast, blueberries, chocolate.

 Some events are a bit quirky, like the Artisan Bread Festival in Maine and the Tea and Talks series at Gilded-Age Ventford Hall in Masschusetts.

 It is happening now, so see the listings below and grab your calendar and make some commitments to your taste buds.

 Beer and Wine

 Killington, VT  -- Killington Wine Festival  -- July 14 to 16

The Killington Wine Festival presents a tasteful weekend of wine and food tastings, dinner, and golf. At Killington Resort.

 Wellesley, MA -- Crush Wine Festival  -- July 16

Sample over 75 award winning Massachusetts wines from across the state, meet the winemakers, learn about their vineyards, and taste local artisan cheeses and delicious small bites.  Goshen, CT -- Connecticut Wine Festival – July 22-23

 Manchester, NH  -- Manchester Brewfest – July 29

More than 100 unique, local, and regional craft beers will be served along with local foods and non-alcoholic beverages. 10 Arms Park

 Guilford, CT -- Shoreline Wine Festival -- August 12-13

Taste  wines from all of Connecticut’s wineries; take a tour of the Bishop’s Orchards Winery; hear seminars by wine experts, live music and entertainment; and visit with local vendors and artisans. Bishop’s Orchards Farm Market & Winery


 Yarmouth, MA -- Yarmouth Clam Festival – July 21-23

This festival is one of Maine's summer favorites. It includes a parade on Friday night, fireworks, live music, clams (!!!), arts and crafts shows, road races and more. Yarmouth Village.

 Narragansett, RI -- Blessing of the Fleet Seafood Festival – July 27-29

Come dine on seafood prepared in the New England tradition, as well as other food vendors, a carnival, a beer and wine tent, and live music performed by The Heavy Rescue Band, Roger Ceresi’s All Stars, and Steve Smith and the Nakeds.  Next to the Narragansett Towers.

 Lancaster, MA -- Clustertruck Food Festival – August 26

 Shelburne, VT -- Vermont Cheesemakers Festival – July 16

 Wilmington VT -- Deerfield Valley Blueberry Festival – July 28-August 6

This is a festival with all the trimmings – music, crafts, a car show, a barbecue – but the centerpiece and guest of honor is the blueberry, which you can consume in every possible form from pancakes to ice cream and much more.


 Waterville Valley, NH -- Chocolate Fest - July 29

 Skowhegan, Maine -- Artisan Bread Fair – July 29

 Newport, RI -- Hellenic Fest of Newport – July 28-30

 Tea & History

 Lenox, MA -- Tuesday Tea & Talks at Ventfort Hall - through September 5

Sumptuous Victorian teas will be served at the conclusion of each talk by an expert about the gilded Age: lives of servants and Vanderbilts, antique furniture, money, taste and jewelry in the late 1800s. Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum.
