I tried to stump VisitNewEngland.com Facebook friends today with a Where Are We? Wednesday image of the famous hairpin turn on Route 2 (the Mohawk Trail) in the northern Berkshires region of Massachusetts. Well, that didn’t work.

If you have fond or other types of memories of negotiating the hairpin turn, you probably know about the beauty of Mount Greylock, only 14 miles westward and southward. (see map)

The winding drive up the mountain is glorious and you are rewarded at the top by 360-degree views and the regal Massachusetts Veterans War Memorial Tower.

Bascom Lodge, at the top of the mountain, serves meals and you can hear stories of hikers and bikers and adventurers who come to visit this grand place from all over the country.

Do yourself a favor and try to visit Mount Greylock (remember: road access is limited in the depths of winter)
