Crown of Maine Balloon Festival at Northern Maine Fairgrounds, Presque Isle, ME, August 22-25 — Would you like to fly in my beautiful balloon?? Oh, yes! From the ground or high in the air in the basket of a balloon these giant creatures are a marvel to behold.

Amistad Tours and Sails at Custom House Pier, New London CT, on August 19-25 — Board the tall ship Amistad for dockside visits at the Custom House Pier in New London or a sunset sail. Sails are two and one-half hours; reserve in advance. In 1839, African slaves from Sierra Leone took control of the Amistad, which was captured and towed to New London CT. The Africans were faced with slavery or execution, until the U.S. Circuit and District and Supreme courts ordered the Africans freed. Map
