Just 12 miles north of Boston, this state-run property hits all the needs for a day outdoors, including activities in the water and on land. The entire reservation is more than 600 acres of hardwood Forest. A ubiquitous trail system guides visitors among the various parts of the reservation. Fishing and swimming are popular in Silver Lake and Pearce Lake. If you like hiking to outcrops with great views, many walking paths can take you to peaks on the property. Free admission.
